We Out Here adds over 100 artists to line-up for 2023

Today we are out here – Gilles Peterson’s award-winning weekender – presents an intergenerational and diverse programme of over 100 new artists joining their bill for 2023. Leading with headliners Ezra collective, raisin Murphy, ankle, Black star (Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def & Talib Kweli) and Nia archivewho will join previously announced artists Sun Ra Arkestra, Cymande, Black Midi and Nubya Garcia.
A Festival for All: The program doubles the festival’s ethos of showcasing genre pioneers alongside exciting up-and-coming talent; Across eclectic genres, festival founder Gilles Peterson has championed his forty-year career.
Represents a cornerstone of the festival programme: the vibrant British jazz scene that is always energetic Ezra collective return to We Out Here with the dubstep pioneer mala calling the jazz luminary Joe Armon Jones for her critically acclaimed hybrid jazz/dub live show and DOMi & JD Beck the virtuoso duo who have quickly built a solid reputation, all joining previously announced jazz staples Nubya Garcia, Makaya McCraven and Yazmin Lacey.
Now a hip-hop super duo Black starconsisting of Yasiin Bey fka Mos Def and Talib Kweli perform over 25 years after their critically acclaimed debut album and legendary acid jazz band Galliano return, both joining the ranks of pioneering artists: British funk band Cymandecelebrates 50 yearsSun Ra Arkestra Led by 99-year-old bandleader Marshall Allen and Grammy-nominated American singer Meshell Ndegeocello. New generation talent is also plentiful, with new wave junglelist Nia Archives presenting their live show, as well as Nabihah Iqbal ahead of an upcoming album, along with Live.e, neo-soul favorites Children of Zeus and Romare a special live electronic show. who join the previously announced post-punk outfit Black Midi, Wu-Lu and place Africa.

We Out Here offers the very best in live music alongside club and dance music culture, and today is announcing an extensive lineup of DJs representing both the roots and future of the dancefloor. Omar S and Eris drew lead the charge here, bringing the heat of their hometowns of Detroit and Chicago respectively – the birthplaces of house & techno – alongside other exports ash Laurin and Marcellus Pittman for a true celebration of America’s legendary dance party spirit. Other DJ debuts are for disco vendors Horse meat discobeloved band jungle and broken beat pioneer dego.
Meanwhile, all things hard and heavy are celebrated: the program honors 30 years of pioneering drum & bass and jungle labels metalheadz & V shotsboth booked for major acquisitions with some of the biggest names in the scene: Goldi, dj storm, LTJ Bukem, Roni size and scissors. And representing the familial community spirit the festival has built over the years, welcome returnees are slated for festival favourites Mr. Schruff, Coco Maria, Colleen “Cosmo” Murphy, Josey Rebelle and Patrick Smithy.

Founder and curator Gilles Peterson says the announcement: “I’m already really looking forward to summer 2023. We’ve added over 100 musicians and DJs to this year’s line-up, including some of my current favorite acts and exciting new talent in today’s scene. Today’s diverse music program will be further enhanced by a full range of family, wellness and cultural activities (including dance classes, talks, roller rink and a record shop), a comprehensive and varied offering for all to be announced in the coming months.
The fourth edition of We Out Here includes 10th-14th Augustt in his idyllic new home of Wimborne St Giles. The festival, which has previously taken place in Abbots Ripton, Cambridgeshire for the last three editions, is looking forward to starting a new chapter in an idyllic new location. Unfolding within 400 acres of lush parkland in South West England.
