As Southern Ontario prepares for a major winter storm, many school boards are deciding to cancel school for December 23rd.

Environment Canada is forecasting heavy rain or snow starting tonight (Dec 22). Temperatures are then expected to plummet on Friday, leading to a possible flash freeze.

Potentially dangerous winds of 90 to 100 km/h could lead to storm-like conditions on Friday afternoon.

Here are the school closures for Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Niagara, Halton and Durham for December 23rd.

Information will be updated as it is received.

The Peel County School Board said it would close all schools and workplaces for the day.
