School closures for Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Niagara, Halton and Durham for Dec. 23

As Southern Ontario prepares for a major winter storm, many school boards are deciding to cancel school for December 23rd.
Environment Canada is forecasting heavy rain or snow starting tonight (Dec 22). Temperatures are then expected to plummet on Friday, leading to a possible flash freeze.
Potentially dangerous winds of 90 to 100 km/h could lead to storm-like conditions on Friday afternoon.
Here are the school closures for Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Niagara, Halton and Durham for December 23rd.

Peel:
The Peel County School Board said it would close all schools and workplaces for the day.
On Friday December 23rd there will be a full system shutdown at all PDSB schools and workplaces. The safety of our students, their families and our staff is always our top priority.

It was already a day off for the Dufferin-Peel Catholic School Board.
Hamilton:
The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board and the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board are both closed on December 23.

Due to the extended winter storm warning for the city of Hamilton, tomorrow, Friday 23 December 2022, all HWCDSB schools, adult and continuing education centers and day care centers will be closed.

Likewise, all YMCA childcare centers in Hamilton and Burlington will be closed because of the storm.

Wait:
The Halton Catholic District School Board and the Halton Borough School Board were already closed for the start of the Christmas holidays. But both bodies also announced the weather-related closure of the offices.

Niagara:
Both the Niagara District School Board and the Niagara Catholic District School Board closed schools because of a possible snowstorm in the area.
Durham:
Schools on the Durham District School Board were due to close as early as tomorrow for the start of their holiday break.
The Durham Catholic Borough School Board closed all schools tomorrow due to the weather.
