A 20-year-old Cornwall man is facing three charges after police responded to a call early Monday.

Police claimed the man attacked another person with a sharp weapon and attempted to enter the person’s home after the victim dodged him.

Zia Malik, 20, has been charged with assault with a weapon; possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose; and staying unlawfully in a dwelling.

He was held in police custody pending a bail hearing in a Cornwall court.

A 16-year-old faces two charges as a result of two police investigations.

Police claimed the teenager damaged the interior wall of an apartment building on October 23. Police also claimed the teenager molested someone he knows and violated conditions imposed in a previous release order.

The teenager, whose identity cannot be revealed under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with mischief under $5,000 and violating a release order.

Police said officers stopped the man’s vehicle for a traffic violation and then claimed the man was operating the motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
