Black Belt Eagle Scout Unveils Video for New Song ‘Spaces’

Black Belt Eagle Scout has released a new song, “Spaces”, in the run-up to their new album. The land, the water, the sky. Following the earlier tracks “My Blood Runs Through This Land”, “Don’t Give Up” and “Nobody”, the track comes with an accompanying video directed by Evan Benally Atwood and Morningstar Angeline, with an original concept by Quinn Christopherson. Check it out below, along with the artist’s upcoming tour dates.
“I wrote ‘Spaces’ for an audience to sing tunes of healing and caring for them,” Katherine Paul said in a statement. “Since I started Black Belt Eagle Scout, I’ve roamed a lot of rooms and played shows for crowds. I can’t always connect one on one with everyone and so this song is an attempt to bring to life my feelings of appreciation I have for anyone who supports my music. My parents lend their voices in the chorus tune, my father with his powerful powwow voice, and my mother with her soothing tone so similar to mine you can hardly tell the difference between me and her. I want this song to be an offering to those who need to hold on and feel, because through feeling and being together comes healing.”
Paul added, “It was incredible to bring my family carving profession into the music video. My father has been carving Coast Salish style art for over 50 years. I grew up with it and learned how to carve and paint as a teenager. This video shows a process of creation and the kind of intimacy we give our art. In the video we carve an eagle out of yellow cedar. The eagle represents strength and leadership.”
The land, the water, the sky appears February 10 over Saddle Creek.
