Counselors are available to talk to you about upcoming opportunities and what an apprenticeship can do for you.

There will be an event at Barrow Fire Station on Tuesday 7 February 2023 from 3:30pm to 6:00pm.

There will be an event at Kendal College on Wednesday 8 February 2023 from 3:30pm to 6pm and an online event on Thursday 9 February 2023 at 6pm.

The events offer help and advice for starting a career and the training path and are aimed at interested young people, parents and carers who would like to find out more about the possibilities.

Cumbria County Council recruits dozens of new trainees each year for a variety of different roles including Civil Engineers, Road Engineers, Business Administration, Project Managers, Accountants, Firefighters and Nurses.

Many secure a permanent position. Their award-winning training team supports all applicants throughout the training process along with their dedicated tutor.

This year, successful trainees will start work for one of Cumbria’s new organisations, Westmorland and Furness Council, Cumberland Council or Cumbria Commissioner Fire and Rescue Authority.

Councilor Sue Sanderson, Cabinet Member for Schools and Learning at Cumbria County Council, said: “Apprenticeships provide a fantastic opportunity for people to earn money while learning and many of our apprentices secure permanent employment and further training.

“We will soon have a wide range of options. Whether you are a school leaver, a career starter or already employed, we have something for everyone.

“This is a particularly exciting time to be involved in local government services in Cumbria as we transform our councils through local government restructuring. Join us on this journey and help us provide and shape services to the people of Cumbria. Attend one of our free events to learn more.”
