UK ‘sleepover killer’ casually tells police on video he murdered pregnant girlfriend, 3 children

A UK man sentenced to life in prison for the murder of three children and his pregnant partner on Wednesday was seen on video quietly admitting: “I murdered four people.”

Damien Bendall pleaded guilty to four counts of rape and murder at Derby Crown Court on Wednesday, Derbyshire Police said in a statement. He admitted to raping and murdering 11-year-old Lacey Bennett on September 19, 2021.

Bendall also allegedly murdered her 13-year-old brother John Paul Bennett, the siblings’ mother and Bendall’s pregnant partner, 35-year-old Terri Harris, and girlfriend’s girlfriend, 11-year-old Connie Gent, at a home in Killamarsh, a town and parish in north-east Derbyshire, England.

Subsequently interviewed at Ripley Police Station, Bendall told officers, “I used a hammer,” adding boastfully, “Bet you don’t usually get four homicides in Killamarsh, or — well, five, because my wife does one.” Baby had,” SKY News reported.

He reportedly said that after the murders he took the boy’s game console and sold it in a taxi for drug money before returning to the house and then calling the police.

Damien Bendall eventually admitted to murdering 35-year-old Terri Harris, her children, 13-year-old John-Paul Bennett and 11-year-old Lacey Bennett, and Lacey’s close friend, 11-year-old Connie Gent.

When police arrive outside the home, body camera footage shows Bendall standing and telling officers he has no guns on him. He complies when asked to unbutton his coat and officers ask if he harmed himself, noting the blood on Bendall’s hands. Bendall says he stabbed himself “about four inches with a bread knife and one in the stomach” and continues to unbutton the top of his coat.

Damien Bendall greets officers

Damien Bendall tells British officials he stabbed himself before admitting the murders of a girlfriend and three children.

Bendall maintains a calm demeanor and asks the officers to turn the corner. They agree, but prevent him from going far when an officer asks, “Do you know what’s going to happen to you now?”

“I know what’s going to happen. Of course I’m going to jail. Again,” says Bendall.

The officer says Bendall will be arrested. “I murdered four people,” Bendall adds casually.

Bodycam recordings by Damien Bendall

Damien Bendall admits to British police officers: “I murdered four people.”

Bendall is handcuffed and a search of the property discovered the four victims. Afterwards, officers are heard reading Bendall his rights and leading him to the back of a police car.

A recording of the first 911 call can also be heard Bendall calmly telling the dispatcher, “I need the police and an ambulance right now because I killed four people.”

Bendall later told police that he “did three to four bags of cocaine and then passed out.” He was also under the influence of cannabis, police said.

The brother and sister were from Harris’ previous relationship. Her father, Jason Bennett, said in his victim statement that the killings of the children had “devastated” him and that life is now “pointless”.

“It’s like my heart shattered into a billion pieces that can never be fixed. I am a shadow of my former self, I am nothing,” the statement said. “I have a lot of love around me, but the love I crave from my beautiful children I can’t have, that’s a hole that can never be filled.”
