SPIE Names Winners of the 15th Annual Prism Awards | Business | Feb 2023

SAN FRANCISCO, February 2, 2023 – SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, yesterday recognized the top-scoring new optics and photonics products with the industry-focused Prism Awards. The gala evening, held during SPIE Photonics West, also marked the 15th anniversary of the Prism Awards with a champagne toast, a timeline gallery of past winners and a video showcasing Prism highlights from a decade and a half.

Each year, the SPIE Prism Awards reflect the fast-growing development, exciting latest developments and rich technical innovations in the photonics and photonics-enabled industries. This year, the annual ceremony honored a number of established and emerging companies that apply innovative and creative solutions to critical problems in areas such as augmented and virtual reality, sensors, lasers, quantum technology and biomedical optical solutions. SPIE received 76 applications from 19 countries for consideration at the Prism Awards 2023.

The finalists and winners were selected by an international jury that brought their knowledge and acumen in the areas of technology commercialization and finance. Distinguished judges included FDA’s Zane Arp, iFocus’ Adi Diner, AXA-XL’s Simi George, MKS Instruments’ Marc D. Himel, Coherent’s Qiongying Hu, Chromacity’s Shahida Imani, Teledyne Princeton Instruments’ Jason McClure, Alison McLeod from Technology Scotland, Nishant Mohan from Tesseract Health, Cather Simpson from Engender Technologies, Linda Smith from Ceres Technology Advisors, Mark A. Tolbert from TOPTICA and Ferechteh Teherani from Nanovation.
