Saint Francis Hospice is launching a new ‘Recycle Your Real Christmas Tree’ campaign in Havering and Brentwood.

The palliative care charity is hoping to raise £30,000 for patient care by collecting and recycling residents’ Christmas trees in return for a donation.

Residents would have to pre-register their real Christmas trees for recycling on the charity’s website.

The trees will then be collected over four days from Friday 6th January to Monday 9th January 2023.

Charlotte Winder of the Saint Francis Hospice Fundraising Team said, “Let’s make this year a great success and together secure the future of our hospice.”

“We are delighted that our Christmas tree recycling campaign is back in the New Year and we hope to collect even more trees than last year and raise £30,000.

“The only way we can do that is to make sure everyone celebrating with a real Christmas tree knows that once the celebrations are over, we’re here to recycle their tree.”

The hospice does not charge people for collecting their Christmas tree, but as a charity, it relies heavily on donations to fund its care and support for the local community.

“Every donation makes a huge difference to our patients and their families as we help them when they need it most,” said Charlotte.

A donation of £25 could pay for an hour of care in our wards, £10 for art supplies for bereaved children and £54 for an hour of care in a patient’s home.

“Saint Francis Hospice is all about the people we care about,” said Charlotte.

“To give people a quality of life and to be as comfortable and pain-free as possible.

“Our people help people hold on to anything and everything they love. You can rely on our expertise around illness, pain and symptom relief, dying and death.

“The only way we can offer this service is through fundraisers like Christmas Tree Recycling.”
