Real Madrid 0-0 FC Barcelona LIVE! El Clasico match stream, latest score and goal updates today

The 2023 Supercopa de Espana final takes place tonight with an El Clasico clash in the desert as Real Madrid take on Barcelona. The Saudi Arabian city of Riyadh hosts the culmination of the mid-season mini-tournament between Spain’s top clubs.

Both teams reached the final with a great deal of drama as penalties were required. Thibaut Courtois was Los Blancos’ hero as they beat Valencia in the semi-finals after a 1-1 draw, while Copa del Rey winners Real Betis refused to go down without a fight against Barcelona and finally on penalties after two equalizers over 120 subject to protocol.

Since 2017, the Spanish Super Cup has not been played between the Clasico rivals and Real have won their last two encounters in this final and they won their LaLiga encounter earlier in the season. They will be keen to lift Barcelona’s record 13 Supercopa crowns, with just one title separating teams in the all-time leaderboard. Follow El Clasico via Standard Sport’s live match blog!

live updates

22 minutes: A Mexican wave makes the rounds as a Dembele cutback into the box catches Pedri in his heels.

20 minutes: Back up at the other end, Militao blocks De Jong’s drive well and Balde fires a first cross that dodges everyone.

It might have been intended as a shot, but in fact it was hardly the worst cross in the world.

Chance for Real Madrid!

19 minutes: Better from Los Blancos as a good cross selects from Mendy Benzema who places a typical header over and just wide!

18 minutes: Ancelotti is as cool as a cucumber, of course, but even the Italian is starting to bark some instructions from the touchline to try and sharpen his Real Madrid marksmen.

A spell of possession to take the edge off this Clasico.

15 minutes: To be fair, Barcelona enjoyed the first quarter of an hour better.

Get off the post!

13 minutes: Lewandowski aims from 20 yards and Courtois flips it onto the woodwork!

Balde has a great shot at the rebound… Out!

11 minutes: Just behind Lewandowski as he rowed back for a decent cross from De Jong.

9 minutes: Great work by Camavinga to win the ball and create a couple of chances but Araujo deftly puts an end to Real’s move.

A casual Vinicius touch comes into the aspect ratio, but that doesn’t stop the Uruguayan from flying in with a tackle! He caught his man safely, even if a throw-in was already given…

Barcelona chance!

6 minutes: Busquets is cut off by Kroos and a nice free kick is chipped at the far post as Araujo dodges his opponent…

He can’t make serious contact from just a few feet away!

4 minutes: The advantage of playing this Supercopa in the mid-season is that it doesn’t feel like a summer friendly at all. Riyadh also creates a vibrant atmosphere.

Lots of energy that is reciprocated on the pitch.
