Royal Family to Hold “Peace Talks” with Prince Harry Before King Charles’ Coronation

Spoiler alert: Prince Harry’s relationship with the rest of the royal family is a bit strained, to say the least. (But you knew that unless you lived under a rock.) The cause? Well, mostly Harry’s explosive memoirs, spare part (and the subsequent interviews in the press surrounding them), aimed in particular at Prince William, but also at King Charles, Camilla, Queen Consort and even the Princess of Wales on a case-by-case basis. As the King’s coronation approaches at Westminster Abbey on May 6th, The sun reports that “the royal family will hold peace talks with Prince Harry ahead of the king’s coronation,” hoping to repair the fences ahead of the big day.
“Royal sources believe peace talks could take place in the coming months, with Harry flying over from the US to meet King Charles and Prince William,” the outlet reports. “A source believes the relationship is ‘fixable’ but ‘requires flexibility on all sides.'”
“It takes Harry over here, in the room with the King and Prince of Wales and a few other family members,” says a source The Sunday Times (opens in new tab). “Both sides have to put their hands up and admit that we didn’t do everything right and we did a lot of things wrong.”
Another source speaking to the outlet adds: “You have to invite them [Harry and wife Meghan Markle] before the coronation, or it will be such a circus and a distraction.”
The coronation is about three and a half months away and happens to be on the fourth birthday of Harry and Meghan’s son Archie.
Potential peace talks come to the fore after Harry told ITV journalist Tom Bradby in a promotional interview spare part that “the ball is in their court” for reconciliation, referring to the royal family. He also announced that he would like to attend his father’s coronation.
“A lot can happen in between,” Harry said. “But the door is always open. They have the ball. There’s a lot to talk about and I really hope they’re willing to sit down and talk about it.”
A source tells The sun that senior royals don’t want Harry at the event, fearing anything they say will “end up in the paperback,” possibly as an addendum spare partis already bomb content.
“There were conversations in the family, including [Prince] Edward and [Princess] Anne,” a source told the outlet. “They don’t want private conversations at the coronation that make it into the paperback spare part.”
