Councils in Greater Manchester have released information on adapted waste collection over the festive period and residents are now being urged to check the data.

with Christmas With just days away and no doubt a lot of rubbish to be produced over the next few weeks, residents of the region will rightly be wondering if there are any planned changes to their rubbish collection over the holiday season.

Christmas rubbish collection dates for each Greater Manchester area have now been published by all local authorities, along with recycling information and tips for residents to follow.

Here are the waste collection dates for Christmas 2022 in each borough of Greater Manchester.

This year, Manchester Residents’ bins will be emptied one day after the usual collection date, meaning there will be a refuse collection on Saturday 31 December, but collection days will resume as normal from January 1, 2023.

The new dates are as follows:

  • Monday 26th December collections are moving to Tuesday 27th December
  • Tuesday 27th December collections are moving to Wednesday 28th December
  • Collections from Wednesday 28th December move to Thursday 29th December
  • Thursday 29th December collections are moving to Friday 30th December
  • Friday 30th December collections are moving to Saturday 31st December

Manchester City Council encourages residents to “make a concerted effort to recycle as much as possible” this year.

In SalfordCouncil has confirmed that residents’ bins will be collected as usual during the bank holidays – including the bank holidays on Boxing Day, Tuesday 27 December and Monday 2 January 2023.

Salford City Council also reminds residents to recycle wrapping paper, aluminum foil, bottles, cans, Christmas trees and leftover food.

resident one Bolton are reminded that there will be some changes to waste and recyclables collection over the holiday period.

Bolton Council has confirmed that the gray bins will be collected on Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th December, but there will be no collection of food waste bins or green bins between Monday 26th and Friday 30th December.

Beige and burgundy bins will be collected from Wednesday, December 28th to Friday, December 30th.

To bury

Garbage collection teams in To bury will work with on weekdays during the festive season buried advice assuring residents that they will “do everything possible to keep the collections on track”.

There will be no change to the collection of grey, blue and green bins during the holidays and residents should continue to put out their bins by 7am on their usual collection day. However, brown bin collection will be suspended for two weeks from Boxing Day (December 26, 2022 – January 6, 2023).

The council is asking residents to continue recycling food waste in their brown bins, either in a compostable liner or loose in the bin.

Oldham Council has published adjusted garbage collection dates for 2022 and is asking everyone Oldham Residents “share this information with their neighbors.”

If the residents’ rubbish and recycling bins are to be emptied on Boxing Day, they must be collected two days earlier on Christmas Eve (Saturday 24 to Monday 2 January 2023).

Collections on Monday 2nd January 2023 will take place as usual.

Rochdale Council has confirmed that there are no planned changes to waste collection in Rochdale over the Christmas period and all collection rounds remain in place.

Stock port

Stockport Council asks residents to check their website for information on collection days as there are some changes during the festive season.

There will be no garbage collections on Boxing Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day and the councilors are also reminding residents that there will be no green bin or food bin collections from Monday 26 December 2022 as they starting again from Monday 2nd January 2023.

Tameside Dumpster crews will continue to work hard over the holiday period, the council has informed residents that collection days will be changing for some households in the district.

From Boxing Day through Friday January 6, 2023, there will be no brown bin collections at all in the entire county, so anyone arriving on the holidays – Monday December 26 (Boxing Day), Tuesday December 27 or Monday 2nd January – a collection is due, so check the list below for your new date.

All other collections run as usual.

trafford council has announced that there will be a number of changes to rubbish collection from Boxing Day (Monday 26 December) as they will take place a day later than normal.

Collections scheduled for Monday 26th December will now be moved to Tuesday 27th December, then Tuesday 27th December collections will be moved to Wednesday 28th December, and so on from there – with collection days returning to normal from January 2, 2023.

Trafford Residents are asked to drop off their bins by 6:30 a.m. on the new collection day.

In Wigan, the Council has confirmed that the collection days for blue, brown and black bins will remain the same during the festive period, but green bin collection will be suspended between Boxing Day (Monday 26 December) and Friday 6 January 2023 .
