Christmas travel times for buses, ferries and trains
During the Christmas and New Year period changes will be made to the ferry service from the Isle of Wight, the Cowes to East Cowes floating bridge, as well as bus and train times.
Here’s what to expect as you try to get around the island over the next few weeks.
Note that some services are subject to change based on weather and other factors.
Southern Vectis buses
Expect the following service from Southern Vectis:
christmas eve – Saturday timetable, but NO night buses.

Second day of Christmas – Normal Sunday timetable
27 December – Normal Sunday schedule
December 28 – Normal schedule
December 29 – Normal schedule
30 December – Normal schedule
New Year’s Eve – Saturday timetable WITH night buses.

Floating Bridge from Cowes to East Cowes
Services are subject to change based on weather and other factors, but the chain ferry is expected to run:
christmas eve – 5:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. on Christmas morning
Christmas Day – 7:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. No service between 4pm and 6pm.
Second day of Christmas – 7am to 12.30am on December 27th.
December 27 – 5:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. on December 28.
December 28 – 5:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. on December 29.
December 29 – 5:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. on December 30.
December 30 – 5:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. on December 31.
New Year’s Eve – 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. on January 1st. Last sailing from East Cowes at 1:10am and last sailing from Cowes at 1:20am.
New Year – 7:00 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. on January 2nd.
January 2nd – 5am to 12.30am on January 3rd.
January 3rd – 5am to 12.30am on January 4th.
