With the win, the IWA increased their season record to 2-4. Gateway fell to 2-5.

The Chargers lost to the StoneBridge School on December 6, 52-42.

With a long history of close games dating back to the Chargers’ tenure in the Metro Athletic Conference, IWA led the home team 38-34 and 6-26 to go into the Dec. 6 game. But a 20-3 run by StoneBridge at the same distance propelled the home team to victory.

Denbigh Baptist Christian School avenged a loss earlier this season to the Chargers with a 45-38 win over IWA on Thursday, December 8.

IWA led by one point, 24-23, with just two minutes left in the third quarter. But a 9-0 run in the next four minutes of play gave the Minutemen the ultimate lead.

Isle of Wight Academy opened their 2022-23 campaign with a 2-1 homestand, suffering losses to Atlantic Shores Christian School and Williamsburg Christian Academy and earning a win over Denbigh Baptist Christian.

IWA was without a double-digit scorer in an 89-32 loss to Shores on December 2.

The Seahawks had 21 of the first 23 points of the game and led 50-17 at halftime.

On November 28, Harrell had 20 points in only his second varsity start as IWA Denbigh outscored Baptist Christian 55-44.

Teammate Grayson Brock added 10 points for IWA.

Harrell announced his arrival in big style in his first varsity tilt, scoring 19 points in a 76-63 loss to Williamsburg Christian on November 21.

The Lady Chargers basketball team won 3-0 on the week of December 4-10 and defeated StoneBridge 39-20 on December 6; Denbigh 33-12 on Thursday 8 December; and Gateway on Friday, December 9th at 37:13.

The IWA girls started the season 1-1 the week before. They opened their year with a 39-28 win over Denbigh on November 28 and a narrower 53-21 home loss to Shores on December 2.

The Lady Chargers (4-1) travel on Friday December 16 to play Portsmouth Christian School in a tournament.
