Gogglebox stars Giles and Mary address future after other TV show offers
Giles Wood and Mary Killen are practically part of the Gogglebox furniture, having been making viewers laugh with their joke since 2015.
Thanks to the success of the show, the beloved couple have become world stars and are now recognized everywhere.
But what does that mean for their Gogglebox future with offers flying left, right and center for Giles and Mary?
“People come up to us and say, ‘We love you on Gogglebox.’ We’re even recognized abroad,” Mary said.
“It happened in Italy, Belgium and Australia. It’s surprising. And they are people from all walks of life.”
She added to the Daily Star that it’s “surreal” how the show has reached households around the world, some of whom even watch it illegally.
As to why they are so popular with fans of the Channel 4 show, Giles added: “People like my humor. They like it when the sparks fly. Marriage is a contrast – it is a meeting of opposites.
“All kinds of people come up to us and say we’re their favorites on the show. But they probably tell all the cast members that.”
With a fan base this devoted, that means Giles and Mary are staying, right?
“We were offered other shows. But we’re happy with Gogglebox,” Mary assured – phew!
Giles and Mary – who are known for calling each other “Nutty” – are the stars of Gogglebox, among other comedic duos.
Pete Sandiford and younger sister Sophie always provide a laugh from their Blackpool sofa, while viewers love to keep up with the antics of Ellie and Izzi Warner.
Meanwhile, Shirley Griffiths forever fails fans with her racy comments about husband Dave, and the Malone family — and their dogs — are as iconic as the Gogglebox theme tune.
Gogglebox airs Fridays at 9pm on Channel 4.
