The school board of Calcasieu recognizes 137 AP students

More than 130 outstanding students from Barbe, Iowa Sam Houston and Sulfur High Schools were honored at this week’s Calcasieu Parish School Board meeting.
The 137 students successfully completed their AP courses and exams at various levels and received the appropriate awards: AP Scholar, AP Scholar with Honor, AP Scholar with Distinction, and AP Capstone Diploma.
AP Scholars are students who achieve a score of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams.
Students considered AP Scholars with Honor have an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken and a score of 3 or higher on four or more of those exams.
AP Scholars with Distinction are awarded to students who achieve an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken and a score of 3 or higher on five or more exams.
Scholars earning the AP Capstone Diploma have achieved a score of 3 or higher in the AP Seminar and AP Research, in addition to a score of 3 or higher in four AP exams of their choice.
