For Experion’s classical singer CEO Binu Jacob, leadership is a fine art

If you still have a stereotypical image of a company honcho in mind, you’ll experience culture shock listening to Binu Jacob, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Experion Technologies, a Kerala-based company with a presence in 35 countries.

An artist at heart, Jacob is an all-rounder who effortlessly juggles many hats.

A former Indian Air Force officer, Jacob is also a classically trained singer, a sustainability enthusiast and explorer of unknown places on the world map.

Experion Technologies is a global product development services company providing transformative digital solutions and a proven track record of driving growth.

Jacob, who has an unmatched ability to tell interesting anecdotes spanning his 30 years of experience in the profession, will be speaking at Techspectations 2023, Manorama Online’s premier digital summit, taking place on February 17 in Kochi.

A consummate team player, Jacob was able to bring together a core group of technocrats as co-founders, among whom Experion has grown from a 10-strong team working on a few select projects to a 1,100-strong organization that has worked with over 350 clients in 35 different countries .

Experion’s product development professionals work from three development centers in India – Thiruvananthapuram (Technopark), Kochi and Bangalore – and six global offices in Europe, Australia and North America.

Jacob’s career began as an officer in the Indian Air Force servicing surface-to-air missiles and radars at several strategic locations.

He built successful business lines around enterprise software products and built early-stage software product companies before holding the reins at Experion.

He has also held several leadership positions, leading teams at Dimensions Cybertech and IBS Software Services.

He has also worked in the education sector, having taught business strategy to MBA students at the University of Lincolnshire and Humberside, UK at their Dubai campus.

Jacob holds a Masters degree in Management and Systems from IIT Delhi and an Engineering degree in Applied Electronics and Instrumentation from College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram.

He is also a former Secretary and Board Member of the Group of Technology Companies (GTech) – the industry association of Information Technology (IT) and Business Process Management (BPM) organizations in Kerala.

An advocate for sustainable living, he’s also an artist, a pencil sketching expert and a cross-country road trip enthusiast who has traveled the world – from Africa to New Zealand and most of the countries in between.

Aside from his responsibilities at Experion, the artist within him is currently crafting his own personal masterpiece – an ecovillage for minimalist living that brings together his vision for the environment, sustainability, community life and agriculture, and brings together like-minded friends.
