Campbellford Memorial Hospital (CMH) will have a new President and Chief Executive Officer in early 2023.
In a recent press release, the hospital’s board of directors announced that Jeff Hohenkerk will assume his new role effective March 20, 2023.
Hohenkerk brings more than 35 years of healthcare industry experience, including the last 10 years as vice president of Quinte Health Care hospitals in Belleville, Trenton, Picton and Bancroft, the board said. His portfolios have included human resources, clinical services and partnerships, and since 2017 he has served as Quinte Health Care’s chief transformation officer, according to CMH’s recent release.
“As we navigate the ever-changing post-pandemic world, we were looking for an innovative leader with the experience and vision to lead CMH through the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead,” said Kevin Huestis, CEO of CMH. “Jeff’s extensive experience running hospitals and his dedication to rural healthcare made him the ideal candidate to lead CMH through these trying times and beyond.”
Hohenkerk was selected after an extensive nationwide search that included a large number of excellent candidates, the board noted. Hohenkerk will succeed Eric Hanna, who has held the role on an interim basis for the past 13 months.
“On behalf of the CMH Board and employees, I would like to thank Eric for coming out of retirement to help stabilize our organization and provide a strong foundation for Jeff and our dedicated leadership team to continue going forward,” added Huestis added.
Hohenkerk is looking forward to his new task.
“I am honored and grateful to the board of CMH for placing their trust in me,” said Hohenkerk. “CMH has an incredible team and a lot to look forward to in the future.
“From developing new programs to better meet the needs of the communities we serve to continuing to work on a rehabilitated hospital as part of a care campus, there is much to be excited about and I couldn’t be happier be ready to embrace this new opportunity.”
While at Quinte Health Care, Hohenkerk was responsible for the clinical oversight, design and direction of the new Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital, construction of which is expected to begin in 2024. He also spearheaded the planning and design of multi-million dollar capital projects at QHC’s four hospital sites, the board noted.
“A project of this magnitude requires real collaboration and the unwavering support of the community,” Hohenkerk noted.
“I look forward to working with the CMH team, partners and the community of Campbellford to bring the rehabilitation project (Campus of Care) (here) from planning to shoveling into the ground.”
