Popeyes Chicken Proposed for White Horse Pike in Lindenwold.

For the White Horse Pike in Lindenwold, New Jersey at the corner of Oak St.

The property is currently vacated and undeveloped after a building that last housed a dry cleaners (and originally a bank) was demolished.

To better describe the location of the proposed Popeyes restaurant, directly across Oak Street (on the same side of The Pike) is Pike Liquors. A little further down there is a McDonald’s as well as a Wawa convenience store with petrol.

This building on White Horse Pike in Lindenwold was demolished a few years ago before plans were made for a new Popeyes restaurant.

the The Popeyes project is scheduled for review by the Lindenwold Joint Land Use Board on January 26, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. The developer is looking for the preliminary and final approval of the site plan.

The announcement for the meeting lists some desired deviations, primarily specific to the signage requirements of the new restaurant building and site.

The lot is actually a bit big for the Popeyes restaurant, even stretching behind the hair salon and auto repair shop that connects to Holly Street.

At the time of writing, we do not have the proposed site plan, so it is not clear to us if the developers’ intention is to open the restaurant’s driveway to Holly St.

A new location for Popeyes Chicken is proposed for the Lindenwold on White Horse Pike. The Joint Land Use Board will conduct a review in January.

This area of White Horse Pike is a busy one, and it’s surprising that nearby McDonald’s and Wawa are the only major national fast food options at this time.

There is other local competition in the area for customers’ chicken dollars.

Locally owned independent options include Aunt Berta’s Kitchen Too, Crown Chicken and Grill, and 92 Chicken in Clementon.

Popeyes Chicken has created a new wave of chicken lovers!

Popeyes is in a bit of a growth spurt in the 42 Freeway area, with some of the popularity in the chicken chain coming from the launch of Popeyes’ own chicken sandwich in 2019.

This is the third Popeyes restaurant proposed for the 42 freeway.com area in recent years, with a location recently approved in Runnemede NJ and another proposed for Cross Keys Rd. in Winslow. In Burlington County, sites in Burlington Township and Mansfield were also approved in 2022.

Other existing Popeyes locations include Washington Township, Blackwood-Clementon Rd, Berlin Route 73 and a location also on White Horse Pike but 5 miles away in Lawnside.

It’s clear that fast food chicken isn’t a new idea.

Heck, I go all the way back to when Kentucky Fried Chicken was sold at Gino’s hamburger restaurants in the 70’s!

Of course, today we’ve made fried chicken their trademark at several chicken restaurant options including KFC, Church’s Chicken, Crown Chicken and even Royal Farms Convenience Stores! But none of these players have really made a name for themselves in chicken sandwiches.

Some burger-focused fast food restaurants have offered chicken sandwiches, such as Burger King and Wendy’s. For decades, Wendy’s offered one of the most well-known chicken sandwiches.

But there was room for a dominant player in this category, and that space was entered by the ever-popular Chick-fil-A-Chicken Sandwich restaurants. We all know the long lines at the Chick-fil-A Drive-Thru just to get a fresh sandwich or nuggets!

Chick-fil-A dominated the chicken sandwich arena for decades and still leads the way.

Things changed a bit in 2019, however, with the introduction of the then-new Popeyes Chicken Sandwich.

Whether it was a great marketing plan, an incredibly fresh and delicious sandwich, or a combination of both… Popeyes took the fast food world by storm this year with the launch of their new chicken sandwich.

The early excitement surrounding the sandwich caught the attention of social media influencers, who jumped on the bandwagon to try and share the news about the new sandwich, effectively providing the Popeyes chain and the new grocery product with significant free publicity .

And many said the words “better than Chick-fil-A”… further fueling interest in the Popeyes sandwich version.

Shortages were soon reported at Popeyes restaurants across the country!

In May 2020…nine months after the launch of Popeye’s new chicken sandwich…parent company RBI announced that sales at Popeye’s stores increased by 20% compared to a normal year as a result of this one product launch and compared to the impact of Covid 40% up in 2019 year.

Today, the long lines of customers waiting to get a Popeyes chicken sandwich are natural, but they remain hugely popular.

At the rear of the White Horse Pike estate in Lindenwold, this is to house a new Popeyes restaurant.

And all of this obviously caught the attention of the entire fast-food industry, which in recent years has been upgrading chicken sandwiches and introducing new varieties to capture a bigger share of the growing fast-food chicken market.

And this has also brought about the introduction of new players in our region, such as: B. Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers planning locations for Cherry Hill, Marlton and Deptford… With others in the works for the area.

So while America is still most associated with hamburgers cooked on a grill, fried chicken and sandwiches are making their entrance.

And Popeyes wants to grow with that increased interest.
