Industrial action expected across the UK: strike dates from now until February

Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport Union (RMT) of 14 companies and Network Rail pulled out again on Friday, shutting down services across the country a day after an unprecedented nurses’ strike.

However, some planned strikes have also been canceled in recent days.

Network Rail Transport Salaried Staffs Association (TSSA) members have voted to accept the company’s salary offer, it was announced on Thursday.

And a planned Friday 72-hour strike by groundhandling staff at Heathrow Airport was suspended by Unite after private contractor Menzies made an improved salary offer.

Planned strikes by security guards on Friday and Sunday on the Eurostar were also suspended after contractor Mitie made a new salary offer, the RMT said.

Even so, services ranging from postal deliveries to health services will still be hit by strikes through February.
